Mark Wentzel artist talk at Day & Night Projects

Saturday, Oct. 5,  12-1pm
Day & Night Projects, 585 Wells St. SW, Atlanta, GA 30312

Mark Wentzel will discuss his current solo exhibition moment. This collection of sculptural forms and installation explores the metaphor of the “moment” as defined in architecture, physics, psychology, and neuroscience. From a cenotaph as a Ritz cracker in carved soapstone, to arrow-martyred bowling balls, to a 10-ft scale model of the Washington Monument, the themes of judgment, power, and identity are handled playfully, with dark undertones. Saturday, the final day of this show, moment will remain open for viewing until 5pm.

ALT ATL: Artist-Run Spaces and Experimental Projects

Sunday, Oct. 6, 2-3pm
Atlanta Art Fair Theater,
Pullman Yards, Porter Hall 225 Rogers St NE Atlanta, GA 30317
Day & Night's Co-Director Éngel Ellis will join a panel to discuss Atlanta's long, rich history of alternative, artists-run, DIY spaces and projects that foster new talent, build community, and provide essential resources for Atlanta’s emerging and mid-career artists. Although they are often precarious—vulnerable to funding scarcity, founder/volunteer burnout, and access to space—these projects are the lifeblood of Atlanta’s arts ecosystem. Blurring the lines between artist, curator, administrator, and visionary, these panelists represent some of the city’s most innovative and exciting spaces. Sarah Higgins, Executive + Artistic Director of Art Papers will moderate. theatlantaartfair.com
