Day & Night Projects is an artist-run gallery near downtown Atlanta. We aim to provide opportunities for artists to exhibit in a non-commercial setting; to become a nexus for the Atlanta artist community; and to exchange exhibitions with galleries around the world.

Makeda Jean Lewis-Kinuthia

Co-Director

Lewis-Kinuthia is an Atlanta-based artist, casual documentarian, synthesizer, and fried-fish-eater. She is a Georgia State graduate, a former MINT gallery administrator, and current Program Manager at Atlanta Center for Photography. William Downs

Co-Director, founding member

Born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, Downs works in a range of mediums, but focuses primarily on drawing. He received a Multidisciplinary MFA from the Mount Royal School of Art at the Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore and a BFA in Painting and Printmaking from the Atlanta College of Art and Design.

In the year 2016 his work has been shown in many group exhibitions such as ArtAidsAmerica, a traveling museum exhibition, “Call and Response” at Sandler Hudson Gallery, “Black Pulp!” Yale University and The International Print Center in New York, and “Aimless Revery” at The Fuel and Lumber Company in Tuscaloosa Alabama.

Downs is represented by Sandler Hudson Gallery.

Steven L. Anderson

Co-Director, founding member

Steven is an artist, curator, and arts organizer working throughout the US since 1998. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He has exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the United States since 1996. His artworks are found in the Microsoft Art Collection, the Tim & Lauren Schrager Collection, and in collections of Fulton County Public Arts, Coca-Cola Inc., Emory University Hospitals, the National Park Service, and others. Anderson’s sketchbooks reside in the permanent collection of the Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library at Emory University.

Steven is a recipient of a 2025-26 MOCA GA Working Artist Project fellowship, a 2023 Idea Capital grant, and is a two-time winner of the Artist Project Grant from the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs. Upcoming residencies include the Hambidge Center, (Rabun Gap, GA), and Elf School of the Arts, (Hayesville, NC). Previous residencies include Uncool Artist Residency (Brooklyn, NY), Yes We Cannibal (Baton Rouge, LA), Blue Heron Nature Preserve (Atlanta), Château d’Orquevaux (Orquevaux, France) and others. Anderson has been a Studio Artist at Atlanta Contemporary, and a WonderRoot Walthall Artist Fellow.
